Karambit Drill # 2
Cut pattern 1
The following drill is comprised of a series of specific karambit strikes blended in sequence to form a flowing successive pattern. It is the first portion of my 22 cut KKA Karambit pattern.
I will show the strike position in the first photo and the application on a body in the second photo.

1. Use the ring "punto" to thrust into the solar plexus of your opponent.
We call this a # 1 strike. This will "soften" your opponent.
Remember to keep your left hand up in a checking position.

2. Upon retraction of the shot to the solar plexus immediately flip the karambit to the extended position to prepare for the next strike.

3. As the karambit reaches the extended position , use the momentum of the flip to gain force for the strike. The target area is the left collar bone of the opponent.
This is the first half of the figure 8 cut we call a #2 strike.

4. Follow through the strike down to the chest and gain momentum for the second half of the figure 8 cut.

5. Once you reach the chest level from the #2 strike, continue on the figure 8 pattern and attack the right collar bone without changing grips. This will complete the second half of the #2 strike. Follow through on a diagonal pattern across the opponent's chest.

6. Use the momentum of the follow through above and reverse the karambit rotation by flipping back to the standard grip.

7. Once the flip is completed and you are in a standard grip, initiate a horizontal cut along the throat. This is a #3 cut.
This will conclude the first 3 strikes of the KKA 22 cut pattern.
When you are drilling, stand in a good fighting stance, keep the left hand up in a checking position. Go through the drill slow at first like this:
Slowly speed up the pattern and be sure to visualize the targets.1. Punto to solar plexus
(flip to extended grip)
2. Attack left collar bone
(follow through)
3.Figure 8, attack right collar bone
(follow through across chest)
( Flip karambit back to standard grip)
4. Horizontal cut across throat
The goal of this drill is to use a non-stop flowing pattern throughout and hit all the targeted areas. Do a set of 20. Each time you mess up , begin counting at 1 again. The drill is complete when you have done 20 without a mistake. (it takes a while)NOTE: Do this drill on grass and not cement if you don't want to ding up your aluminum trainer "Cling-clang-cling-clang" is a common sound with this drill. You ALWAYS end up letting a few fly when learning this drill.
This drill can also be done on a tree truck, wall, and in the air.
