Karambit Trainer Technique against an overhead knife attack

NOTE:
A knife attack is a serious life threatening situation
and it should be countered with a life taking technique.
The following technique is done by using the Karambit to disarm and control. No Cuts, No blood!!

(Photos By: Hans Gutknecht)

As the attack comes draw your karambit. Move off line  of the attack and left hand parry to redirect and control the attackers arm. At the same time close the gap and prepare for a collarbone jab/hook. This is very painful. This  These two movements are done at the same time.  Parry-Poke

Initial target is just over the collarbone. The poke is made on a downward  45 degree angle on top of the collarbone. We keep control of the of the weapon hand at all times with our left hand.

Once the Poke is made we use the back of the karambit to "scrape" down to the wrist as we take control of the wrist in preparation to disarm the attacker.

Prepare to disarm by controlling the wrist and thumb with your left-hand and place the karambit between the fingers of the attacker and also against the blade of the knife.

1. Place the karambit the blade.     2. Drive your arm in a downward angle towards the ground. Make a direct path from the knife towards the ground. Remember to stabilize the wrist as you strip the blade. The knife along with opening of several fingers,  will fly off the hand of your opponent.

Once the disarm is made, re-grab the arm with the left hand and follow up with a poke to the opponents neck.
AND NOW THE FOLLOW UP!!

Continue through and jam the back of the trainer behind the neck. Maintain control of the right wrist.  Pull down by dropping your center of gravity and pilling in toward your body.

A quick elbow shot to the forehead to stun your opponent.  Move your elbow over his head and drive the point of the trainer on his spine between the shoulder blades. Not comfortable! As you drive downward lift up the opponents right extended arm.   (Option) Reach down and extend into the groin for a quick hook and pull!

Continue to lift the right arm use the karambit ring to activate a mandibular pressure point. (both grips work well).
Place his arm on your left shoulder. Snake in to am arm bar as you lower the opponent.

Release your lock as he falls to the ground. Use a driving heel palm to the rear of his shoulder to slam him to the ground. Make sure that you control his right arm with knee pressure from your left knee.

Drive his wrist behind his back and pin it to his  low back while you maintain pressure with your left hand on his shoulder.  Drive the point of the trainer into the back of his neck while holding opponent pinned to the floor in pain!!!

The Karambit trainer as a control devise is a perfect tool for control and restraint situations.
